1-You should have at least one copy kept offsite (i.e., secure location, cloud). 2-Your copies of data should be stored on at least two different types of media (i.e., NAS, cloud). 3-You should have a minimum of three different copies of data (your original production data and two backup copies) in addition to any archival copies you plan to keep. Even when utilizing cloud providers, the basic 3-2-1 rules still apply. When evaluating solutions, it’s important to build around the basics. Modern backup solutions are automatic, verify completeness of the process, and notify firm members if there is a problem or anomaly that requires attention. We often find in consulting with firms that there is seldom consistent follow-through on manual backup procedures, particularly when the person primarily responsible for doing so goes on vacation or there is a staffing change. These backup types most often require the constant physical intervention of creating and verifying the backups and taking them offsite to a secure location. If you are still relying on physical media-such as a solo network-attached storage (NAS) drive, flash drives, DVDs, or even actual tapes-your firm is at risk. Today’s products not only allow you to restore individual files and previous versions of your entire network but can also back up remote user data and even fire up virtual servers in the cloud to be an integral component of your firm’s business continuity/disaster recovery plan. Think about whether current copies of all the work being done remotely are also being properly backed up by your existing system.Ĭhances are they are not, making it a good time to review your data backup strategy and consider taking advantage of current automated solutions. Think right now: How sure are you that your data backups are current, complete, and that you can recover from this scenario (or, for that matter, a fire, theft, or accidental overwriting of critical files)? Compound that with the hasty move to remote computing created by COVID-19. You’re sipping your morning coffee as you turn on your computer for the day, and rather than seeing your familiar background, you have a bright red notice: “Your files are encrypted and can only be unlocked if you pay a ransom.” After the initial panic subsides, you begin to think rationally: “No problem, I can just restore all my files from my backups.” Take your processor name and search for it in Google.Your CPU will be listed next to ‘Processor’.In the Windows search box in the taskbar, type sysinfo and hit enter. Here’s how to check your CPUs original release date: New CPUs come out every year or so, but some computer manufacturers do use older generation processors in their budget-oriented systems and there is the possibility that the system you bought sat on a shelf (or-if you bought it online-in stock) for any given amount of time.īut, generally, checking your CPUs original release date can at least give you a ballpark range of how old your computer is-especially if you cross-check it with the methods listed in this guide. This method won’t give you a super accurate date of how old your computer is. Check Your CPU’s Release DateĪnother way that can give you a rough estimate of how old your computer is is to check what CPU you have and then see when that CPU was first manufactured. So, even after you check the date that is displayed after ‘BIOS Version’ it is a good idea to cross-check the date with some of the other methods listed here. And, if you bought your computer used, there’s no guarantee that the BIOS was not updated by the previous owner. If you have updated your BIOS since you have purchased your computer, though, that might not give an accurate date. Scroll down until you see ‘BIOSVersion:”.Once the Command Prompt window has opened, type systeminfo.exe and hit enter. In the Windows search box in the taskbar, type cmd and hit enter. Here’s the step-by-step process to pulling up your system’s info via command prompt: That is pretty close to the date that I built my computer and is close enough to give a good idea of how old the computer is. For mine, it says American Megatrends Inc. So, the better way to check via systeminfo.exe is to look at the ‘BIOS Version’ listed. For instance, I know that my computer was build in December of 2017, however, the ‘Original Install Date’ in the systeminfo.exe prompt shows ‘’. This prompt will also tell you the ‘Original Install Date’ of Windows, but this date can be misleading since Windows resets the install date listed every time there is a big Windows update released. Running the systeminfo.exe commmand prompt will pull up a bunch of information on your computer and that can be used to help estimate how old your system is. Check Your BIOS Version via Command Prompt: systeminfo.exe One you’ve found your system’s serial number, simply type it into Google and the manufacturer’s website should show up and they should have information about your computer-including an approximate manufacturing date. For a laptop, the serial number will likely be found on the underside of the chassis. On a desktop computer, the serial number will likely be found on the back of the computer. If you bought a custom PC or a pre-built system from a company like Dell or HP, or you have a laptop, the chances are that there is a sticker somewhere on your computer that has a serial number on it. But use this period to build you for the next stage in your life, which can be unbelievable. It is not there coincidentally, and this may sound maybe a little bit too spiritual and mystical, but I would say listen to it carefully. Hell has benefits on the way you talk to other people and how you think about business. It has benefits on your ego, and ego is a very destructive element in our personalities. I would say it even stronger: This is a one-time opportunity. But hopefully - and this is what I told myself - you're not going to go through hell many times. You ask: How could this happen to me? Even though you know that part of it is probably your fault. You're angry at the world, angry at God, angry at everyone. But then he said, “You need to stop doing this and this and this in Little Brown.” I said, “I cannot, I already have franchisees, and you know you’re jeopardizing my concept.” Well he didn't say anything much, and then one day on a Friday afternoon, somebody knocked on the door and said, “You're being served.”Īt a certain point, you just want to collapse. But one day the chairman of Max Brenner came to me and told me, “Listen, I don't think it's working between us, we should split.” I told him no problem. So I opened one on the upper East side, and then I had a franchise in Russia and one in Dubai, and I leased another store in Chelsea… they never told me I was doing anything bad. I pitched it to Max Brenner and they weren’t interested, so I told them, “I think it's not in competition with Max Brenner, and I want to open a store like this under a different brand name.” They said no problem. And eventually I decided that I wanted to start a new concept, like a Starbucks of chocolate - smaller stores, self-service, quick serve. But in general, I wanted to be involved less and less. I was showing up for PR, events, interviews, whatever, here and there, and I was making new recipes sometimes. At some point, I started to show up less to meetings, and I think they were relieved because they didn't want to see me there. I mean, they cannot work together.įor a very long time, bitterness and frustration were building up. It’s not good or bad, but they are thinking and analyzing and slowly, “Let's bring in a consultant.” An entrepreneur and a consultant, they are like oil and water. And the corporate is mostly people who are running an already existing business. Doesn't matter.” This is almost his nature to push forward and make things happen. But he just says, “Okay, so this was a mistake. Why do you think this is the way?” The entrepreneur usually doesn't think, he knows. When you say, “Let's try to sell in Japan,” it’s, “Why Japan? Who told you it's a market?” But the Japanese love dark chocolate! “How do you know, show us research. It's, “Let’s think about it, analytics, who told you this is true? Why this packaging? Why these colors? Why are you changing the brand language?” It's endless. The corporate process is extremely different. He wants to do things, he wants to see them happen right now. I don't want to generalize, but usually, an entrepreneur is a very impulsive, gut-instinct person. Many people told me that an entrepreneur cannot work in a corporate environment. I really turned it into a chocolate amusement park.” You say, ‘I'm addicted to chocolate, I want a chocolate fix.’ So I created a big syringe full of chocolate so you can shoot it into your mouth. Let's create a ‘hug mug,’ so you can hug your mug close and feel like you are in a chalet on a ski vacation. I said: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? Let's create chocolate pipes that go all around the restaurant. So this was the beginning of Max Brenner. Traditional chocolate stores treat chocolate almost like jewelry, in these beautiful boxes - don't touch it! But when I talked to my customers, they were talking about Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, sexy gifts, romantic childhood memories, the emotional connotations of chocolate. “I felt there was a big gap between the way people talk and think about chocolate and the way they experience it in the retail world. “The things I was doing in my shop were very out of the box, different from classic European chocolate stores,” he says. While the concept of the personal luxury car first realized in the Thunderbird was derived from the European grand tourer popular in Italy and England, it was the English who borrowed from the Thunderbird in the design of the Sunbeam Alpine, a car with styling lifted almost directly from the American car. It impacted other brands even across the Atlantic. Compression measured somewhat lower than a 352 at 10:1, but had 50 more horsepower, with torque at a stout 490-lbs.ft. The Thunderbird's influence reached farther than Ford, though. The big news in 1959 came with the introduction of the Thunderbird 430 Special V-8, a monster of a block with a 4.30-inch bore and 3.70-inch stroke. They even used the T-Bird as the basis for the most popular Mercury model, the Cougar. When Ford launched the Mercury brand, it was in an effort to capitalize on the personal luxury car market that the Thunderbird had created. Ford produced the second generation of the Thunderbird from 19581960, and in 1959 Ford gave the T-Bird its first big-block V8 engine, a 430 cid V8 making 350 horsepower and 490 lb-ft of torque. The Thunderbird's success is obvious from its long life and high sales figures, but it was also hugely influential on other models. Bridging the gap between sports cars like the Corvette and plush sedans like the Bel Air, the Ford Thunderbird was the best of both worlds. Its combination of luxury and sportiness was a revolution that broke open a whole new market segment. They offered new squared-off body panels and a changed inner structure. The Galaxie models were well-received, and many consumers enjoyed the styling. There were sports cars available to satisfy the urge for an exciting drive, but they were small and impractical for much else. One of the main attractions for Ford in 1959 was the Thunderbird styling theme, used on the hardtop roof of the new Galaxie series. That was fine for a pleasant trip from Point A to Point B, but it left the driving experience lacking.
